FIFA 23: Power Shot Guide

FIFA 23

FIFA 23 regularly used shooting types in are flair, chip, and finesse. This guide will teach you how to perform a power shot in FIFA 23.

However, there are instances when none of the aforementioned shooting tactics are appropriate, which is when the appropriately titled Power Shot comes into its own.

The Strength Shot, as the name implies, allows players to greatly boost the amount of power behind their shots, making it much simpler to score from distance or blast the ball across the goalkeeper so quickly that they don’t have time to react.

How to do a Power Shot?

In FIFA 23, players must hold both the left and right shoulder buttons while hitting the shoot button to complete a power shot. When using a PlayStation controller and default controls, this involves holding L1 and R1 and then shooting with Circle, whereas Xbox users must hold LB and RB and then hit and hold the B button to power up their shot as usual.

If done correctly, the camera will begin to zoom in on the player in possession, at which time players will need to aim their shot using the right analog stick. Unlike conventional shots, they will receive no assistance, so they must aim precisely if they wish to hit their target. This is actually quite straightforward, although it may take some practice to properly master.

When Should You Use Power Shots in FIFA 23?

Unfortunately, the greater power supplied by Power Shots comes at a cost, with the wind-up animation taking substantially longer than other shot kinds. This gives opposing center backs more time to make a tackle or a block, thus players should avoid employing Power Shots unless they have a yard or two of space around them.

FIFA 23 Defense

When the player on the ball is clean through but lacks the speed to outrun the defenders to get inside the area, a Power Shot is the best option. This is especially true when paired with many of FIFA 23’s top attacking players, including as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski, and Harry Kane, none of whom are particularly quick these days.

Power Shots can also be queued up while the ball is being taken out of the air or a player is running into a through ball or knock-on, effectively minimizing the negative effects of the prolonged wind-up animation. This includes while a player is chesting the ball down or after flicking the ball up to set up a volley with the R3 button.
