Apex Legends Preliminary Patch Notes 1.05

Update March 19 – Patch 1.05 have been released, here you will find the official Patch Notes.

New Character – Octane

Since Apex Legends’ initial launch, an array of leaks had been surfacing suggesting that an-all new character called ‘Octane’ would be arriving in-game. These leaks have turned out to be correct, following the announcement from Respawn confirming Octane would be coming alongside the launch of Season 1.

Of course, all characters come with several exclusive abilities which significantly differentiate them from all other legends. If you are wielding Octane, you’ll be granted with the following abilities:

  • Passive Ability: Swift Mend
    • Octane restores health over time if you are not taking damage.
  • Tactical Ability: Adrenaline Junkie
    • This allows you to move 30% faster for 8 seconds. Costs 10% Health. Immune to slows while active.
  • Ultimate Ability: Launch Pad
    • This feature was spotted in-game last week, thus most players have a rough idea of how this particular aspect will play out. Players can deploy a jump pad to catapult themselves through the air after contact is made.

Legend Adjustments

Recently, following several requests and critical comments from fans, Jayfresh_Respawn provided insight on some of the upcoming Legend adjustments.

Major balance changes:

  • Hitbox size reductions and optimizations for Caustic, Pathfinder and Gibraltar

    • We’re better sizing hitboxes to character gear & model

    • Since these adjustments have a MAJOR impact on the game, we want to make sure there aren’t any major bugs, so we didn’t want to rush them out

    • If these adjustments prove to be insufficient, we’ll consider additional adjustments during Season 1

Minor balance changes:

  • Caustic

    • Traps – Reduced cooldown to 25 seconds from 30 seconds

    • Traps – Increased radius and proximity radius by about 10%

    • Traps – Removed a 1 second delay on the smoke dealing damage to players

  • Pathfinder

    • Insider Knowledge – Increased the number of beacons in the world to 12 from 10

  • Lifeline

    • Care Package – Removed slight chance that level 4 armor and helmets will drop

  • Wraith

    • Into The Void – Cooldown increased from 20 -> 25 seconds

  • Bangalore

    • Double Time – Reduced move speed bonus to 30% from 40%
