Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Content Warning Was a Mistake

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Content Warning Was a Mistake

The publisher of Assassin’s Creed Mirage says the gambling content warnings on pre-order listings were just “mistakenly displayed.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: No real Gambling is Involved

The game recently received its first official trailer, and following that, pages for the game went up on several storefronts. Discussions started up throughout the web due to certain store listings. It includes Xbox’s, displaying the game with an 18+ Adults Only ESRB rating. It is due to Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Real Gambling.

Adults Only ratings are something you wouldn’t see that often; they are often only reserved for games containing unsettling violence, extremely graphic, or sexual content. According to Gambling laws in North America, games that involve online gambling with real money are also rated Adults Only.

Ubisoft has cleared the issue

No Assassin’s Creed title has ever passed the 17+ Mature rating, so it was unexpected for many to see it on Mirage, especially because of the listed reasons. Fans feared it might spoil the playing experience because of some unknown monetization model. Thankfully, Ubisoft spoke to Eurogamer to clear the issue.

Take Away

The publisher says that the game’s ESRB rating is still pending. Ubisoft didn’t go into any detail about how this mistake happened, but it’s undoubtedly a great relief for any fan that felt alarmed. Indeed, the Xbox storefront has since been updated and now states Mirage’s rating is pending.
