COD on PlayStation: Microsoft keeps beyond the existing marketing deal

Microsoft will keep; COD on PlayStation for “several more years” beyond Sony’s existing marketing deal.

COD on Playstation

According to CEO Phil Spencer, In January, they provided a signed agreement to Sony to guarantee Call of Duty on PlayStation. It contains the feature and content parity for several more years beyond the Sony contract. This is absolutely a great offer that goes beyond usual gaming industry agreements. Call of Duty won’t suddenly disappear from PlayStation platforms if regulators approve Microsoft’s $68.7 billion deal.

Furthermore, Sony did not want to see COD on Xbox Game Pass on day one because they do not intend to compete with the service, and Sony is limited to commenting on Call of Duty‘s brand strength and loyalty engagement.

Take away

No specific time scale has been given for how long the deal will take to close, and it’s likely that the deal will be examined as to whether it creates a monopoly before it’s formally approved. Spencer confirmed that Activision Blizzard would continue to run as an indie company until the deal was complete.
