Following Embracer Group’s acquisition of Square Enix’s former studios Eidos and Crystal Dynamics, the two have announced that they are in full control of their game series, such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, and Thief.

The deal closed in late August for $300 Million, making Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix Montreal a part of Embracer. Both studios are the official owners of the games they have developed. Moreover, they have full control over major franchises, some of which have been on ice for several years.

Crystal Dynamics has taken control over Legacy of Kain, Deus Ex, and Tomb Raider and has begun pre-production on a new Tomb Raider game built in Unreal Engine 5.
