Update: Meanwhile, the update v5.40 has been released to Fortnite. Here you can find the patch notes 1.76.
Server down for maintenance, Fortnite Update v5.40
Today, on Thursday 06.09. The Fortnite servers will be shut down on all platforms (PC / Mac, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android) to install the 5.40 update, which will bring the new game mode High Stakes and a Battle Royale weapon will be removed.
When does the server downtime start? The Fortnite servers will disable the matchmaking as usual at 09:30 German time and then be completely offline at 10 clock, US time is -6h.
When are the servers back online? In contrast to the last few weeks, we expect a major update, so the downtime can take longer. However, the Fortnite servers are usually available again at midday between 11:30 and 12:30.
According to the Fortnite developer Epic in this update 5.40 a lot stuck in it. So a critical controller bug was found, which had to be fixed first. Also, the performance issues on the Nintendo Switch should be significantly reduced.
This is in Update 5.40 for the Battle Royale mode: Friends of well-groomed competitive game will have to say goodbye to a weapon in the first place.
The revolver is taken out of the game and comes back to the workbench, where it will be revised and (possibly) returned in a modified form.
The highlight of this week is undoubtedly the new “High Mission” event, a time-limited mode with its own challenges and rewards. Also new is the Grappler, which can take you to places you can only reach with precious construction resources.
There’s an update for the “Save the World” player: This week, Epic’s main goal is to fix several issues in the “Save the World” mode. While there will be new horde challenges, the focus will be on improving mission performance and general console-specific issues.
Epic plans to release a separate post with details shortly.
What do you think of the update? Are you looking forward to the new mode in Fortnite: Battle Royale?
