Overwatch 2: Will completely supersede and replace the first part

As we have now found out, the hero shooter „Overwatch 2“ will completely replace the first part. Blizzard confirmed this again in a recent Reddit AMA.

Blizzard Entertainment’s „Overwatch 2“ will be released next October on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch and PC, initially in Early Access. As we already know, only the PvP mode will be published as a free-to-play title. The campaign will appear later, possibly in 2023.

According to game director Aaron Keller, „Overwatch“ will simply be replaced with „Overwatch 2“. Players will probably only need to download a patch that will bring all the changes to multiplayer into play. These include the switch to a 5v5 format, new heroes and numerous balance adjustments.

Regarding the existing credits, it’s not really clear yet if players can take them over. It means that you can transfer existing credits to „Overwatch 2“, but there is a completely new currency in the second part, it is still uncertain.

That’s all for now on the latest news! We’ll stay on the ball and as soon as there is more information, we’ll let you know!
