The big pre-patch 3.0 for World of Warcraft: Classic is online and once again ended the era of Burning Crusade. The next expansion starts with Wrath of the Lich King, but without the dungeon finder. However, the system that replaced the group search leads to frustration and a lot of spam shortly after launch.
The release of the “new” expansion Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK) for WoW: Classic is still a while away – on September 27th it’s time. But the course is already being set in the game and with the pre-patch 3.0 the first changes came into play and the end of Burning Crusade.
For many WOW-fans, Wrath of the Lich King is considered the best WoW expansion ever. Although, at the very end, it brought a controversial feature to the MMORPG: the dungeon finder.
With the remake in WoW: Classic, the dungeon finder is not coming back into play. But just a few hours after the start of the pre-patch, it seems clear: the replacement system isn’t really working either. The “Looking for Group” tool seems unnecessarily complicated and makes for spammed chats.

New Finder-Tool is too complicated – players prefer to spam
What is the problem? A thread on the topic quickly formed on Reddit, which has already collected over 350 comments within 4 hours. Title: “The new LFG tool is total crap”.
The tool is supposed to help find group members faster. However, the problem is that it is much more cumbersome to set up the tool correctly than to quickly post a request in the chat.
In addition, the new group search mechanic restricts access to the group search chat. This is now causing the other chat channels to be full of group search requests, such as trade chat.
What is wrong with the new WOW Classic tool?
Reddit users tell: You have to do 3, 4 menu clicks to list yourself. A message in the chat, even a repost of this message, would be faster. The user calls it “very difficult”.
In addition, there is a real obligation to play roles: players can register as tanks and then do not necessarily have to play this role. This invites you to disguise yourself as a popular tank and then negotiate with the group.
In this context, many commentators report that the selected role is reset again and again and you have to set it again with every search process. However, this seems more like a bug at the moment.
In addition, the tool had to be updated manually in order to display the latest group searches.
Many players in the Reddit thread are frustrated because there has already been a long beta phase to detect such problems. In addition, the tool is not really new, but rather a revision.
Not everything that is new, is always better. Maybe the WOW Classic fans just need to get used to it?
